One of the nicest armies that I ever collected was this Burgundian force for the wars of Charles the Bold in the 1470s. These are almost entirely Front Rank 28mm metal models, which have a lovely ‘toy soldier’ quality to them and are an absolute pleasure to paint (no assembly for most of the foot figures, either!) You will probably spot some of the old GW metal Bretonnians hiding in some of the units as well. I’m a sucker for the blue-and-white heraldry and found it very relaxing doing these as well as developing my plate armour techniques. All the flags are from Freezywater Flags with a little over painting, but the surcoats, shields and livery coats are all hand painted.
